Booth Welsh and Powering Futures have formed a new partnership, joining forces to achieve a common goal of building a sustainable future. This pairing brings together two-likeminded businesses who understand the importance of embedding sustainability into their operations, and ensuring the next generation are empowered to continue working towards Net Zero, both in schools and the workplace.

Aimee Doole, People, Brand & Culture Director at Booth Welsh said “Our mission is to engineer a better future through collaboration, and we’re committed to embedding this purpose in everything we do. We’ve been working with Powering Futures since 2021 and are thrilled to put this agreement in place which will create lasting sustainable impact for society, the environment and the generations to come. This collaboration supports key impact areas we care deeply about; tackling unemployment, bridging the social and digital divide and equipping the next generation with the skills they need to power their futures. In doing so, it tackles broader societal challenges such as poverty and crime.

Last week, Booth Welsh hosted the Powering Futures Regional Schools Challenge Final at its Irvine head office. The day saw over 100 senior students from across Ayrshire present innovative solutions to real-world sustainability challenges. Throughout the academic year, 5th and 6th-year students involved in the Challenge Programme researched and collaborated on industry-relevant sustainability topics, with the brief of presenting their findings to a panel of experts. The students received key feedback from the panel, including members of the Booth Welsh team, which provided a valuable insight into how their solutions could have practical applications in business.

Through this initiative, the challenge participants gain essential skills such as teamwork, problem-solving, and resilience and earn an accredited qualification upon completion. The teams involved now have the skills and future-focused mindset to tackle sustainability challenges and see first-hand how their ideas can make a real impact.

Jennifer Tempany, Co-Founder of Powering Futures, said:

As an innovative company at the forefront of sustainable growth and a major employer within Ayrshire, Booth Welsh has been a continuous support. From supporting one of the first Powering Futures events at COP26 in 2021 to putting a significant number of their next-generation workforce through the Challenge Programme, their commitment to developing future talent is truly commendable.

Their investment in the next generation workforce has also delivered clear business benefits—driving innovation initiatives such as optimising their boiler system, reducing emissions, and improving overall operational efficiency.

Adopting an ethos of ‘collaboration over competition’ has allowed Booth Welsh to work together with likeminded businesses to drive positive change for people, planet, and business. Powering Futures is excited to continue collaborating with Booth Welsh in the years ahead and supporting their efforts to advance innovation, embed sustainable practices, and nurture the talent needed to power a low-carbon, resilient economy.
