The Background.
The client suffered from significant downtime due to failing assets. 6 key assets were selected for a pilot project in which a non-intrusive wireless sensor solution was installed to monitor the key data of each asset against it's known working values. Specifically generated algorithms were used to determine the status of each asset and report on it's current and future health. Uptime is of key importance to them as the products they supply do not have an infinite lifespan. Problems with plant failing prematurely was resulting in unplanned downtime, spoiled product and lost revenue.
The Client
Our client is a global dairy supplier with 9 large production facilities in the UK.
The Solution.
A clean and easy to interrogate user interface was deemed essential, including site wide dashboards to ensure buy in to the solution. The ability to expand the solution sitewide and then countrywide was always a requirement from day 1. Wireless and non-intrusive sensors collate asset information in very wet and humid environments. Data is collected within an edge device and real time algorithms used to determine asset status related to operating parameters to allow early flag of key equipment failure.
The Benefits.
Common reporting allows senior management to compare asset to asset and site to site, thus enabling them to develop upon the pilot project success. Each site solution could easily connect to all key assets and provide a very flexible top end depicting specifically what each area and site required on the selected graphic interface. User refined reporting was generated, allowing stakeholders the ability to react to the information collated and thus improve equipment availability and uptime.
