Global engineering business Booth Welsh, part of the Clough group, is proud to have continued delivering projects safely and successfully for clients throughout the challenging times of the Pandemic. Maintaining and protecting workforce safety during this time has been a number one priority for the business, and this month Booth Welsh reaches the long-term milestone of 15 years without a Lost Time Accident. This is a feat which has been proudly achieved throughout all Booth Welsh sites covering almost 7 million hours of work.
Booth Welsh Compliance Manager, Alan Caddies, comments,
“This is an achievement we are immensely proud of and is down to the dedication of all 350 of our employees. Over the years we have operated in many high-risk and hazardous environments making this milestone all the more impressive. We quite simply could not have reached this milestone if it was not for everyone’s committed approach in looking out for the safety of themselves and their colleagues. It is testament to our embedded safety culture that we continue to cultivate, and it really shows that our workforce continue to embrace safety as being everyone’s responsibility while at the same time challenging complacency. Our view on safety today also encompasses the support of our employee’s wellbeing & mental health, an area which we have a strong focus on as we emerge from the pandemic.”
Clough CEO & MD Peter Bennett adds,
“On behalf of everyone within the Clough group, congratulations to our colleagues at Booth Welsh on the incredible achievement of delivering 15 years without suffering a Lost Time Injury within the workforce. This is a truly exceptional performance and reflects 5500 days where not one colleague or co-worker has been injured to the extent they were unable to return to work the same day, and that is what I hope for all of our people of every project on every day. It is a credit to the culture and engagement of the workforce that this world class safety performance is delivered day in, day out at Booth Welsh.”
The Clough group is part of Murray & Roberts, a South African based engineering and mining business. Group Director for Health, Safety, Environment and Risk, Thokozani Mdluli says,
“Murray & Roberts’ commitment to safe outcomes in everything we do, grounds our aspiration to make Zero Harm to our employees, service providers and communities, even in challenging project environments, a reality. Our safety record, our standing as a desirable employer, and our care for community wellbeing, are hallmarks of the Group.
We congratulate the Booth Welsh team for achieving 15 years without a Lost Time Injury. This is an outstanding achievement and a demonstration that Zero Harm is possible and we thank the team for their commitment to Murray & Roberts’ vision of Together to Zero Harm.”
