In April 1989, John Welsh set up Booth Welsh Associates - initially as a technical recruitment agency. John expanded, providing a much more comprehensive service for clients and formed an Installation Department to build and test Control Systems. The company secured a £4.2m Oil and Gas commissioning project and its highly successful execution provided the basis for new partnerships in the Pharmaceutical and Energy sectors.
Demand from lots of new clients prompted the need for more expansion. After adding to an energetic team of consultants, the company enjoyed continued success, winning many more contracts across the world. An increasingly wide geographical reach meant there was a need for strong Process Management and our Control Systems department was formed.
Booth Welsh continued to build on a growing reputation for expertise in niche industries and started their specialist Energy department. Capabilities within the company increased and an Engineering Design department was formed. Staff numbers reached 200, with wide-ranging and interesting projects taking our people all around the globe. In order to consolidate Booth Welsh's growth strategy, the senior management team successfully completed a management buyout in 2011.
At Booth Welsh we believe that our success is linked to our clients' success and as business expanded, we decided to add Process Engineering to our portfolio of services in 2012. We identified a strong need for great people for our partners, so we launched our popular, client-dedicated Technical Recruitment Service.
In 2014, Booth Welsh celebrated its 25th Anniversary and was acquired by international Clough Group, a very well-respected Engineering Services company in the Oil & Gas sector. Booth Welsh is now a 'Centre of Excellence' for Electrical Control & Instrumentation in the EMEA region and a successful merger has facilitated even higher standards of service.
In the same year, we celebrated a significant and important safety milestone of '10 Years Zero Harm' and cemented our growth by opening a second UK office in Daresbury, near Manchester.
