Booth Welsh Sponsor Local Teen On Her Way to Karate World Championships

Karate Aria

Booth Welsh are delighted to sponsor local teen, Aria Pascual, as she heads for the WFK World Championships in October of this year.

Aria began training in karate at 5 years old and now, at 16 years old, she is currently a 2nd Dan black belt. Aria previously trained at JKA Karate before moving to Kokusai Karate Club in Clydebank at the beginning of the year; and has taken part in many competitions both at home in the UK as well as internationally.

Aria has worked incredibly hard to achieve success and believes the key to achieving top results is to have great focus and train as an athlete. Aria has also been training at local strength and conditioning centre, Maximum Potential, with coach John Welsh since 2012. Further to physical training, Aria has now taken on work experience with the gym, working alongside John to boost her knowledge of what is involved in working with athletes and developing sports programmes to improve their performance.

Aria’s dedication within karate has led her be awared the North Ayrshire Young Sportsperson of the year in 2016. Aria has also represented Scotland as part of the JKA National Squad on several occassions and most recently, she has been selected for the Scottish National Team to attend the WFK Under 21s World Championships in Santa Cruz, Tenerife in October 2017.

Aria wants her successes to be an inspiration to other young people within her local area, stating: ‘I believe the achievements I have made to date show the younger students that people from a small town such as Saltcoats can achieve great things but they have to train hard to achieve them.’

Aria is dedicated to both her sport and her studies, realising the importance of balancing both in order to continue achieving her goals in the future. Aria plans to stay on for her sixth year at Ardrossan Academy before attending university to study Sports Science.

Booth Welsh would like to wish Aria every success with the competition and her future.
