Booth Welsh Golf Classic raises over £1000 in aid of Cash for Kids

On the 2nd of June, Booth Welsh held its annual Golf Classic day followed by an evening fundraising dinner in aid of children’s charity, Cash for Kids Ayrshire.

The all-day event was held at the picturesque West Kilbride Golf Course and was attended by Booth Welsh clients across a wide range of industries.  There were 36 players taking part in the competition, taking on a ‘Texas Scramble’ format. The day saw the teams of four, who were named after renowned Scottish golf courses, all compete to win the coveted Booth Welsh Classic trophy.

Our players, both employees and clients alike, also had the opportunity to win additional prizes by competing for the ‘Nearest the Pin’ title as well as being in with a chance of winning a John Cooper Works Mini Cooper for a ‘Hole ‘N One’ shot on the 9th hole through our Hole ‘N One Insurance.

Unfortunately, none of the participants were lucky enough to win the Mini Cooper, however there were still smiles all round as the evening prize giving saw team ‘Royal Aberdeen’, consisting of Scott Bradley, Billy Higgins, Allan Smith and Graham Thomson, lift the Booth Welsh Classic trophy.

In the evening, the fundraising dinner saw a special raffle held with various prizes generously donated by several suppliers and partners of Booth Welsh. The raffle generated a total of over £1000 for Cash for Kids, a charity which focuses on the needs of children and young people from local communities and provides them with opportunities that will allow them to live life to the full and realise their own individual potential. Every pound raised for the charity stays Charity Manager, Lynne Bennett reflected on the evening, stating that:

Thank you to Booth Welsh for the invitation to attend. On the evening, I was given the opportunity to show a video and speak about some of the work that Cash for Kids is involved in throughout each year in Ayrshire. There was a fantastic sum of £1,040 raised from the raffle. This money will go towards our “Holiday Hunger” programme. Most vulnerable children in our local communities here in Ayrshire will not receive a hot meal from when they leave school until they return without fundraising events like this! Children spend 170 days out of school and 190 days in school, and for many the school holidays is no holiday – it means no food, activities and many are at risk from neglect and or abuse.”

Booth Welsh are delighted to support such a worthwhile cause, with both Martin Welsh, Booth Welsh Managing Director and Aimee Doole, Booth Welsh Marketing Lead dedicating their time to be ambassadors for the charity. The company continue to raise money for Cash for Kids and hope for another successful result at their upcoming Cash for Kids fun day on Saturday the 24th of June.
