We would like to introduce Scott O'Neil, a new member of the Systems & Technology department, who will be joining the team as a Systems Engineer. We caught up with Scott to find out a bit more about his background, his role within Booth Welsh, and what life is like outside of the workplace.

Tell us about your background?

In 2015, I graduated from the University of the West of Scotland with an Honours degree in Chemical Engineering. From there, my first role was with Zenith Technologies as an MES Engineer where I worked with Life Science clients to deploy MES technologies on to their manufacturing sites.

MES for those unaware, stand for Manufacturing Execution systems, the aim of these technologies being primarily to automate various manual business processes that support the manufacture of the products. This could be in the form of Electronic Batch Records, Weigh and Dispense, Data Historians, In Process Checks etc.

Tell us more about your role within Booth Welsh?

I have joined Booth Welsh as a Systems Engineer working within the Systems and Technology department.

My role will involve some work in the MES space but also to expand my knowledge and experience with control system technologies as the two are often interlinked on a manufacturing plant.

What is life like for you outside of the workplace?

I have a 14-month-old daughter so at the moment I’m usually spending my time chasing after her and getting her out of trouble.

Can you tell us a fun fact about yourself/any career highlights?

I love cars and have had 4 different ones in the last 4 years as well as a few motorbikes to go along with them!

A career highlight would be when I completed a 6-week secondment on a client site just outside of Washington DC. I enjoyed both the working week and the weekends as there was so much to do and life was so varied.
