Booth Welsh Managing Director Martin Welsh reflects on our recent travel and events and the mindset that is required to drive Digitalisation
When looking at disruptive changes like Digitalisation you need a wide lens. Listening to a wide range of industries and adding regional input you definitely get the sense that we are making progress but common themes still seem to be where to start, where to invest and at the same time understand where the business benefits are. But in reality you need to start with your people. Build the innovation culture, the people and the technology will follow.
We started the week at The Scotsman Life Sciences Conference, a big focus on helping the industry achieve it’s ambitious target to be a £8bn sector by 2025. The good news is that the industry is definitely on that trajectory! We delivered one of the workshops sessions at the event, the theme was Digitalisation and how it links to our traditional engineering services which are all key when delivering this exciting technology.
ADIPEC in Abu Dhabi was a fly in fly out visit which allowed us to have a very focused 2 days at the event. We met with clients and potential partners in the region and also the EIC who are keen to have us present at the EIC Connect Oil & Gas event in April next year. The event was extremely useful for gathering information about changes in the UAE regarding partnering and government legislation as well as how Digitalisation is impacting on the industry both strategically and technically.
All of the above means going the extra mile but it certainly raises our profile and continues to keep the Booth Welsh brand awareness out there. As we continue our journey in developing our “Digital Advantage” you will no doubt see more on our media channels, but feel free to reach out in the meantime or follow us using #boothwelshculture and #collaboratetoinnovate.
