CeeDOn Tuesday 7th of November, Booth Welsh hosted an event in partnership with CeeD  (Centre of Engineering Education Development) at our Head Office in Irvine. We have a great relationship with CeeD having both attended and hosted several events in the past and we believe it is an invaluable platform for which to collaborate with the engineering community.

We built our session around Industry 4.0 a theme which has been a central focus to our business in recent months. We have recently began our journey towards embracing Digitalisation alongside developing a Workplace Innovation initiative to help inspire our employees to share their ideas about how we can innovate as a business. Our aim was to share our opinion of industry 4.0 and highlight the many benefits and business opportunities that it can present. We named it ‘The Future Won’t Look Like the Past. Industry 4.0 is also known as the 4th Industrial Revolution due to how it will disrupt and challenge current industry thinking. We firmly believe Industry 4.0 will create never before seen technologies and ways of working which will disrupt traditional industries, and encourage businesses to innovate across the board.CeeD

We had an overwhelming response from delegates looking to attend the event. This shows that there is a real demand for businesses keen to learn more about Industry 4.0. Within the 60 attendees, we had delegates from a number of backgrounds including business partners, academics and students alike. We encouraged delegates to take part in a group activity to share how they felt embracing elements of Industry 4.0 could help within their own businesses, and provided hands on demonstrations of innovative technology with our industry partners ABB and the AFRC (Advanced Forming Research Centre).

We also provided each delegate with a comment card to share their thoughts on Industry 4.0 and Digitalisation after attending the event and received some very inspiring and positive feedback:

“The future is bright! The future is Industry 4.0!'”

“Highlighted the need for collaboration and to have faith in cyber-security – present and future.”

“Some truly interesting concepts that could be applied to various areas of industry.”

“Found the event inspiring and motivational. I would agree that communication is vital and collaboration is critical. Being present today allowed me to hear different viewpoints and some excellent examples of Industry 4.0 impact.”
